Description

A concentrated dark fruit spectrum with an abundance of ripe blackcurrants, cherries and a hint of cassis. Coffee bean, dark chocolate and black olives lie beneath. Subtle dustiness combines with a seductive violet lift, enhancing the varietal fragrance and increasing complexity.

"2011 Art Series Cabernet Sauvignon has definitely turned a corner, because this is the third vintage in a row in which it has appeared in this illustrious company. Always a year or two older than the pack, this allows Art Series Cabernet a chance to soften and stretch its legs and this is greatly appreciated by its audience."
Matthew Jukes, 2016/17 100 Best Australian Wines Report
"Inky ruby. Powerful smoke- and spice-accented aromas of ripe dark fruits, cured tobacco, vanilla and cedary oak, all lifted by a suave floral topnote. Stains the palate with concentrated cassis and cherry-vanilla flavors, with zesty acidity and a strong suggestion of peppery spices giving the wine lift. At once rich and lithe, this Cabernet finishes with strong thrust, a touch of smoky minerality and harmonious shaping tannins."

"This is a very good wine. It has shape, interest and flavour and should mature well. As a young wine it doesn't quite reach out for the excitement button, but in time/at maturity it may well do. It's more or less a Claret-style, all mulberry/blackcurrant, cedar spice and leaf. Chocolatey notes add texture as much as flavour. Tannin, fine and sure but unobtrusive, is a key part of its quality."

"This is really a gorgeous bottle with subtle black currant, berry, spice, chocolate and cedar undertones. Full body, integrated tannins and a long and beautiful finish. So perfect now. Better in 2016. But why wait?".

"Makes a fist at effortlessness. Supple blackcurrant and choc flavours glide into bay leaf and clove. Mid-weight but juicy. Builds a good amount of momentum as it rolls through the mouth. Shape, mouthfeel and length. Elegance is its middle name. Should mature well."
Campbell Mattinson, 2016 Halliday Wine Companion
"Bright and zesty but with a ripeness that gives a rounded, luscious character."

"Another excellent release from Leeuwin Estate. Attractive bright fruit in the glass with a hum of cedary oak. Toss in some dried herbs and purply type flowers. The fruit is just soft and elegant. There's a gorgeous femininity to this wine which sits at 13.5% alc. Black fruit comes in waves with a lick of oak at the death. The type of wine you'd have with a loved one on a cool night. That whole warm and fuzzy thing. Excellent."
