I was particularly impressed by the wines labelled Shiraz. From my perspective, I think these very fine wines should be labelled Syrah, to signal just how different they are from typical South Australian Shiraz… This variety clearly has a brilliant future at Leeuwin.

Leeuwin Estate 2014 Art Series Chardonnay
Incredibly youthful quartz-green colour; a great chardonnay, its intensity and length right up there with the best prior vintages; white peach and nectarine open the batting, pink grapefruit coming swiftly thereafter, creamy/nutty oak almost lost in the crowd. if this weren’t enough, the aftertaste is a work of art, complete in itself.

Leeuwin Estate 2013 Art Series Chardonnay
Supremely elegant and finely balanced, and has absorbed the new oak in a manner worthy of a Grand Cru White Burgundy, leaving the fragrant bouquet and finely structured palate of startling length to occupy centre stage.

98 Points, Leeuwin Estate 2012 Art Series Chardonnay.
A very youthful bright green-quartz colour sets the scene for a riveting wine of exquisite purity and finesse. It almost floats in the mouth, so effortless is its invocation of all things Chardonnay: white flowers, white stone fruits and immaculately balanced acidity. Oak? Well, yes it’s there, but rendered mute by the fruit. Has greater staying power than any other Australian chardonnay.
