Leeuwin Estate and ISAF - 2011

Leeuwin Estate, and Olympic qualifying Event, the Perth 2011 ISAF Sailing World Championships, have recently toasted a commercial partnership, resulting in the organisations working together on one of the biggest sailing events ever held in Australia.

The ISAF Sailing World Championships are held every four years with the previous Championships being held in Cascais, Portugal in 2007. Fremantle, Western Australia will host the 2011 ISAF Sailing World Championships - the biggest sailing Event to be held in Perth since the 1987 America's Cup Defence.

More than 4,000 official personnel, including 1,400 sailors, and tens of thousands of spectators are expected to visit Western Australia for the two-week Regatta, where World Champions for each of the 10 Olympic sailing events will be determined. Seventy five per cent of all nations to participate at the 2012 London Olympic Games Sailing Competition will be decided at Perth 2011.

Leeuwin Estate has enjoyed a previous association with sailing when the America's Cup was held in Fremantle and through sponsorship of the sail training ship, The Leeuwin. The Estate will produce a signature Perth 2011 wine available promoting the association with the World Championships. This is just one element of what we have planned for the next two years."

Leeuwin Estate is located in the picturesque Margaret River region, a scenic 55 minute flight or three hour drive south of Perth. International athletes and their families will be encouraged to visit the south west and Leeuwin Estate to enjoy their fine wines, award winning restaurant and alfresco concerts in this unique part of Western Australia.

Combined with its natural beauty, Western Australia's summer weather conditions should produce ideal wind and waves to provide a worthy test for sailors and guarantee a world-class display for spectators.
