Variety:  96% Cabernet Sauvignon; 4% Malbec
Alcohol: 13.5%
Cellaring Potential: 15-20 years
Artwork: Christopher Pyett, entitled Arch & Slab No 8 'Circus'

A dark and dense nose of blue and blackberries dominate the nose, complimented by a lifted and fragrant aromatic profile. Perfumed violets amongst black cardamom, olive, anise, cloves and bay leaf provide subtle and classical layers. The palate has concentration, depth and poise set with a blackberry, cherry and mulberry fruit spectrum. Layers and contours unfold into cassia, cocoa and coffee beans through the mid palate. There is vibrancy and seamless structure given a finely laced acid line and gravelly tannins.

"Deep red/purple: an outstanding colour in depth and hue. The bouquet is clean, fresh and alive with bright black fruit and violet aromas, touches of cedar and toasty oak, the palate very deep and concentrated, with lush fruit and abundant tannins, which counter-balance the fruit and sweetness. A powerful yet elegant cabernet with a very long and distinguished future ahead of it. An outstanding, profound wine."

"Destemmed, crushed, matured for 12 months in French oak (40% new). The unadorned purity of this cabernet follows precisely in the footsteps of its predecessors. It is unlike most other Margaret River cabernets, a red brother to the Art Series Chardonnay, even if not quite as magical as that wine. The '13 regional vintage was highly rated at the time, a rating justified today."

"Aromas of black licorice, black berry and rust. Hot stone. Full body, layered and juicy with loads of fresh fruit and chewy tannins. Sexy, muscular cabernet with tone and focus. Screw cap. Hard not to drink now. Better in 2022 but gorgeous now."

"I very much appreciate a wine that feels 'dense' but isn't 'heavy'. Here's a fine example. Black fruit, redcurrant, hazelnut and menthol, coffee bean and sweet fragrant herbs and leaf. It's medium bodied, but dense and well packed, with fine-grained tannin, hazelnut and praline, cool acidity, and a very much offers a 'classic Cabernet' experience. It's long too, and packed with tannin and interest. Excellent. Superb release from Leeuwin."

"The Margaret River estate that really started the whole thing in wine tourism is still one of the best restaurants in the region. And this is yet another excellent Cabernet that shows how far these wines have come. It's more in the medium to full-bodied spectrum. Plenty of palate intensity with the 50 percent new French oak working well with the largely Cabernet-dominant palate. Tobacco leaf and lifted red fruits on the nose and palate. Fine dusty oak and fine tannins provide the perfect support for the fruit. Has a firmness and structured core that is a real stamp of classic Cabernet."

"Classic Australian Cabernet is something to behold. Leeuwin Estate seem to have the stranglehold on the magic recipe over the last several vintages. Black fruit and black currant, bay leaf and cassis all ticking away in unison. Beautifully weighted. Elegant without being soft if you know what I mean, the fruit drips through eagerly awaiting more attention. Super long, soft and moreish in the mouth, it's that sense of a big wave sneaking up on you in the surf, and after it washes through, you are chest deep and loving it. Yep, that. Drink now to ten years plus."

"Ripe blackcurrant fruit that is wonderfully concentrated, with impressive weight. This has elegance, great finesse and finishes gently firm. Drink 2023 - 2037."

"A bright mouthful of cherry, raspberry and currant flavors, full of energy and transparency to the notes of mineral, dried herb, toast, vanilla and dense espresso. Shows plenty of power on a velvety frame. Drink now through 2025."

"Contains 5% Malbec and sees 24 months in oak. Luscious cassis notes. Still young with excellent balance. Very racy and appealing. 13.5% Drink 2016-2022."

"This wine is elegant and finessed, with aromas of bright red current, cedar, smoke, pencil lead, rose, bay leaf and baking spices. The medium-bodied palate offers tobacco and red berry flavors ensconced in ultrafine, leathery tannins. There's oak influence, but it is well integrated with the fruit. Drink now-2028."
