2009 Siblings Sauvignon Blanc Semillon

Winemaker's Tasting Notes

The colour is a fresh vibrant pale straw with line green edges.

From the near perfect growing conditions of 2009 the wine displays intense passionfruit, orange and lime zest together with gooseberry and dusted jube notes.

The palate is soft with intriguing layers of textured lemon/lime and pink lady apples ending in a soft long palate which is very well blanced by the lingering acid.

Comments

"A 62/38 blend, the varieties seamlessly joined in a never-ending circle of herb, grass, citrus and lemongrass, the finish alluringly fresh and crisp. Screwcap. 12.5% alc. Rating 94 To 2012"
James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion, 2011 Edition
"Fresh, pristine and zesty with bright flavours and a crisp, vibrant finish."
Peter Forrestal, The Sunday Times Magazine, April 11, 2010
"88 points - Bright and jazzy, this silky-textured white delivers refreshing pear and floral flavors that linger. Drink now."
Harvey Steiman, Wine Spectator, June 2010
"THIS may be one of Leeuwin Estate's more 'junior' Margaret River wines but it lacks little in terms of interest and quiet complexity. The subtle nose has more dimension than most similar wines. In the mouth, it's a mix of essency citrus and tropical fruit, with a zippy, intense aftertaste."
Ralph Kyte-Powell, Epicure, 15th June 2010
"89 points - Semillon is fermented in old barrels. Nicely peachy, light, peach down and gooseberry cut, a hint of herbaceous quality, but in that nice peach mid-style. The palate has a layered texture and depth, with lots of herbal quality but a great thrust and cut of crisp lemony acidity."
Tom Cannavan, www.winepages, 2010
"89 points - Intense citrus and herbal aromas are complicated by notes of talc and jalape n o. Dry and nervy on the palate, offering tangy lemon and grapefruit flavors that gain flesh and sweetness toward the back. Juicy citrus and orchard fruit flavors linger on the persistent, mineral-laced finish."
Josh Raynold, International Wine Cellar, July/August 2010
