Winemaker's Tasting Notes

The colour has a brilliant deep ruby and violet tone.

The wine is strongly fruit driven by lifted ripe plums, blackberry, black cherry and dark chocolate, this wine is also defined by the spiciness of nutmeg and clove spice with balanced dusty vanillin pod.

The palate is of full to medium weight with a great intensity of sweet black cherry, plums; and with a softness that fills the palate which has extremely long flavours ending in soft and balanced tannins and a focused finish.

This is an excellent example of the great intensity and elegance from the superb 2007 vintage.

Comments

88 points - Bright ruby. Spicy, high-pitched red berry aromas are complemented by dried flowers and cured tobacco. Lively, even slightly tart on entry, but gains sweetness in the middle palate, offering red berry and cherry flavors with a bite of black pepper on the back. Attractively open-knit and drinking very well right now."
Josh Raynold, International Wine Cellar, July/August 2010
"Bright crimson-purple; lively and zesty red fruits run through the bouquet and medium-bodied palate; attractive touches of spice and to the appeal and length of the palate. Screwcap. 13% alc. Rating 92 To 2017"
