The colour is ruby red with brilliant purple edges. The bouquet displays lively fresh berries, spicy cloves, strong pepper tones, with complexing earthy ground chocolate lifting the intensity.
The palate is medium bodied with mouth watering juiciness from the sweet fruit which displays flavours of raspberry jellies and plum with a subtle smoky fruit spice. The fine soft fruit provides a frame for the penetrating flavours that run along the palate and expanding at the back of the mouth.
"Highly perfumed cherry fruit and spice bouquet; medium-bodied with gravelly tannin and accentuated acidity; cool and savoury on the finish. Screwcap. 13.5% alc. Rating 92 To 2015"James Halliday Australian Wine Companion, 2010 Edition
"89 points - A pretty, willowy and supple young shiraz whose heady, brambly and floral aromas of spicy fruit and aromatic oak precede an elegant and pristine palate whose juicy expression of raspberries, cherries and cassis are underpinned by fine, dusty tannins and smooth, choclatey oak. It finishes slightly herbal and sappy."Jeremy Oliver, The Australian Wine Annual, 2009
"92 points - Bright ruby. Exotically perfumed bouquet of spicy red berries, cherry-cola, incense and violet oil. Cinnamon-accented raspberry and blackberry flavors are framed by silky tannins and pick up a suave mineral quality with air. Pure, juicy and focused, with excellent finishing clarity and persistence. This wine's balance and precision are pretty impressive."Josh Raynold, New Releases from Australia Report, Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, July 2009
"94 points - This has the gamey edges that syrah often develops in the Northern Rhone, adding layers of complexity to the dark red and purple fruit. It's bright with huckleberry flavor, clean and polished without buffing away the funk. There's freshness and drive to the wine that will keep it going for years in the cellar, though it's delicious now with duck breast, seared rare."
